And this book is terrific. It has some new content but not heaps - if you have the previous books on Dan's life, you may feel there isn't enough new stuff to entice you. There is some though and, for me personally, that was enough and I am happy with the purchase. The overriding factor for me is the absolute inspiration Dan Eldon's journals bring to me - he is hands down my favourite journalist and his death, 20 years on, is still a tragedy.If you want a glimpse inside the mind of an avid journal keeper, photographer and journalist (in the true sense of the word) then this is a must have book.
I flipped through this and it looked amazing. So, I bought it for a journalist, photographer, artist who was graduating. She said it was amazing.
Magnificent book of reproductions of Dan Eldon's journals. Amazing and inspiring young man. I also recommend the bookwritten by his mother, Kathy Eldon.
This is seriously one of my favorite books. Dan Eldon's life, photojournalism work, activism, and his absolute creativity within his journals is simply inspiring. His free spirited, fearless personality is extremely admirable and unique. Dan not only affected the lives of people during his short life of 22 years, but after his death as well. He led an incredible life and his legacy lives on. This book tell the story of his life, but there is more artwork and photos from his journal entries in this book than words. But, each one of his drawings tells a different story. His journal entries aren't photos that you just look at for a second and flip the page. They are intriguing, and they draw you in. It can be a quick read, but you can also spend hours admiring his work, and the details in his drawings and photography. You will feel as if you knew him after you finish the book. Dan makes you want to make a difference in the world, and to explore as far and as much as you can. Absolutely recommended.
Superb book about an amazing young photojournalist who lived his life to its fullest while creating the most brilliant art ever. He was a human Photoshop long before the program was ever envisioned. Great subject and incredible writing by Jennifer New.
