As a systems engineer, he has been involved in product definition and writing specifications, MCU/MPU-based products for the mid-high end industrial and consumer market space. This is a very good book which comprises of topics of interest for both students and professionals alike. The topics in the book have been careful selected to cover basic to intermediate to higher level of complexity, which are explained in a language easy for designers to understand. This book focuses on design facts/techniques that are used in almost every design aspect of System on Chip or standalone digital IPs and explains them from a practical application perspective. Design ideas from the book can directly be applied to any digital design being worked upon by any IC designer engineer.Being a chip design engineer myself, I would recommend this book to all college students studying semiconductors and digital logic or to any person who is starting his/her career in digital design and to experienced designers who are looking for refreshing their design knowledge or just want to refer & understand design methods and techniques. Also, the book is a good reference for preparing for that interview you might have at the big semiconductor houses ;)Go ahead... buy this book.

One of the most interesting thing about this book is it is derived from FAQ questions on the Synopsys Manuals. most of the things is collection of questions and problems which have been reported on Synopsys Manuals. The chapter of metastability, Cross domain clocking etc are from any manual which one can access from solvenet(synopsys database).these guys write up these books for exorbitant prices.... i dont think these books merit the price... no value addition
